Wintry Mix Of Precipitation Expected Thursday Morning Across The Worcester Hills & The Berkshires

For Tonight: A frontal system is expected to push across the region later tonight bringing with it the risk for rain shower activity. Cloudy skies are expected throughout tonight. Scattered rain showers are expected to overspread the entire area shortly after midnight tonight. This shower activity is expected to continue right into Tuesday morning. Low temperatures will be between 40 and 45 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Tuesday: Showers are expected to continue through sunrise Tuesday morning before coming to an end by mid-morning. Increasing amounts of sunshine is then expected during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Tuesday Night: Clear to partly cloudy skies with windy conditions are expected on Tuesday night. Low temperatures will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Wednesday: Lots of sunshine can be expected on Wednesday and it will be much cooler as compared to Tuesday. High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Wednesday Night & Thursday: An area of low pressure is expected to track across northern New England during late Wednesday night into Thursday. This low pressure system will pull a warm front through the region during later Wednesday night and Thursday morning. A cold air mass is going to be in place during Wednesday night and with precipitation moving in late Wednesday night, it looks to lead to a period of snow or a mixed snow, sleet and freezing rain across parts of the area during the after midnight hours of Wednesday night. The area that has the greatest chance of seeing the mixed wintry precipitation looks to be the Worcester Hills and the Berkshires where some localized slippery conditions are possible early Thursday morning. As temperatures warm up during the day on Thursday, any mixed wintry precipitation will change to all rain everywhere across the region by late morning to early afternoon Thursday. One area that may need to be watched for wintry precipitation to continue well into Thursday afternoon is across the far northern Worcester Hills where temperatures may be slow to rise. Here Is A Breakdown Of What I’m Thinking: Wednesday Night: A mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain looks to overspread much of Western Mass by shortly after midnight Wednesday night. This mixture of light snow, light sleet and light freezing rain is expected to spread across Central Mass by about shortly before dawn Thursday morning. Be aware that slick spots on area roads is a possibility during the Thursday morning commute, especially in the Worcester Hills and across the Berkshires. Temperatures on Wednesday night will be around 30 Degrees. Thursday Morning: Light freezing rain with slick spots on area roads is a possibility across the Worcester Hills and the Berkshires during Thursday morning. Elsewhere, any mixed wintry precipitation should change to rain across areas near and south of the Mass Pike, as well as across the Pioneer Valley shortly after sunrise. This light rain is then anticipated to continue throughout Thursday morning. Temperatures on Thursday morning will range from near freezing across the Berkshires and the Worcester Hills to around 35 Degrees across the Pioneer Valley and across areas near and south of the Mass Pike. Thursday Afternoon: Light freezing rain will change to light rain across much of the Worcester Hills and the Berkshires by about midday. The exception may be across the far northern Worcester Hills where temperatures may struggle to rise much above freezing. Elsewhere across the region, periods of light rain can be expected during Thursday afternoon with temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. Friday: Another area of low pressure is expected to pass to the south of our area during Friday. Even though skies look to be cloudy on Friday, it should be dry. High temperatures will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Weekend Weather Outlook: A dry weather pattern looks likely for the weekend with no weather issues anticipated. Saturday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 45 and 50 Degrees. Sunday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 45 Degrees.
