The Weather Remains Quiet Through Monday; 1 To 2 Inches Of Snow Accumulation Is A Possibility On Wednesday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: An area of high pressure will control the weather for a good part of tonight before a piece of atmospheric energy moves through the area late tonight.

Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected during this evening with cloudy skies expected after midnight. Low temperatures will be between 15 and 20 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday & Sunday Night: That piece of atmospheric energy will move off to the east during the morning with high pressure moving in by afternoon.

Partly sunny skies are expected during the day on Sunday and it will be windy. High temperatures will be between 37 and 42 Degrees. Winds will be West at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Sunday night is expected to be partly cloudy with low temperatures between 15 and 20 Degrees. Winds will be West at 8 to 16 mph.

Monday & Monday Night: A sunny and windy day is expected on Monday with high temperatures near 40 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

Partly cloudy and windy conditions are expected on Monday night with low temperatures between 20 and 25 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Tuesday: A rather strong cold front is expected to push through the area at some point during the late morning or early afternoon hours on Tuesday. The atmosphere is expected to be favorable for snow showers and snow squalls when the front moves through and this is something that’ll need to be watched closely.

So, skies will be cloudy during Tuesday morning and it appears as if there will be some snow shower and possible snow squall activity across the entire area between about 9 am and 1 pm Tuesday. Any snow showers or snow squalls may produce localized dustings of snow. Also, windy conditions combined with the snow showers and snow squalls may lead to low visibilities and poor travel conditions.

Once the front passes by early afternoon Tuesday, skies will become partly sunny during the afternoon hours.

Temperatures will peak around 35 Degrees during the late morning hours, but will fall through the 20s during the afternoon.

Wednesday: An area of low pressure is expected to cross the region during the day on Wednesday. Where exactly this low pressure tracks in relation to our area will be important in determining whether it snows a few inches on Wednesday or not.

Some of the weather forecast guidance show the low pressure system moving right over southern New England, which would lead to 3 to 6 inches of snow to accumulate during the day on Wednesday.

On the other hand, some of the other weather forecast guidance is showing the low pressure system tracking over northern New England leading to a little bit of light snow to occur during the day on Wednesday with amounts of one inch or less possible.

At this point, I’m leaning towards the further north storm track keeping the higher snow amounts over Vermont, New Hampshire and southern Maine.

Because of this, my forecast for Wednesday is for light snow throughout Wednesday morning with 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation possible. A brief break is then expected during the early afternoon hours before a secondary Arctic front pushes through during the late afternoon hours bringing with it the possibility of snow showers and isolated snow squalls.

High temperatures Wednesday will be near 30 Degrees.

Thursday & Friday: An Arctic air mass will once again push into the area during the end of next week.

Thursday looks sunny, very cold and windy with high temperatures near 15 Degrees.

Friday is expected to be sunny, cold and windy with high temperatures near 25 Degrees.
