The First Widespread Accumulating Snow Of The Season Is Expected Wednesday Night Into Thursday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: Clear skies are expected throughout tonight with low temperatures near 20 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.


Tuesday Through Wednesday: An area of high pressure will control the weather from Tuesday right through Wednesday.


Tuesday will be sunny with high temperatures between 33 and 38 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 7 to 15 mph.


Tuesday night looks clear to partly cloudy with low temperatures near 20 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.


Wednesday will start out sunny, however, skies will become cloudy during the afternoon as a frontal system and its associated low pressure system approaches us from the west. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and Southwest at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.


Snow Is Expected Wednesday Night Into The First Part Of Thursday Morning: A frontal system and its associated area of low pressure moving across the area will bring the first widespread accumulating snow of the season.


Snow is expected to overspread the entire area between about 8 and 10 pm Wednesday evening. The snow will then continue throughout the rest of the night on Wednesday night into the first part of Thursday morning before tapering off to scattered snow showers during the mid and late morning hours of Thursday. Scattered snow showers will then continue through the early and mid-afternoon hours before coming to an end.


Our snowfall forecast map for Wednesday night into Thursday morning is attached to this post. We are going to have to really watch the northern Worcester Hills and areas near and north of Route 2 for the potential of 4 to 6 inches of snow as weather forecast guidance seems to be trending towards a more moderate snowfall for this area.


Low temperatures Wednesday night will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. High temperatures Thursday will be near 35 Degrees.


Also, it is expected to become windy by Thursday afternoon with wind gusts of up to 40-45 mph expected.



Friday Through Sunday: Quite the cold late week and weekend period is expected across the entire area as a strong northwesterly flow of cold air infiltrates the region.


Friday is expected to be sunny, windy and cold with high temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees. Northwest winds are likely to gust up to 40 mph at times with wind chill temperatures in the teens all day long.


Friday night looks clear with low temperatures of 15 to 20 Degrees.


Saturday looks partly sunny, windy and cold with the possibility of some isolated snow flurries during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Wind chill temperatures on Saturday may be in the teens all day long.


Saturday night looks cloudy and there may be some scattered snow showers around during the evening as a piece of atmospheric energy moves through the area. Low temperatures will be near 15 Degrees.


Sunday is expected to be sunny, windy and continued cold. High temperatures will be near 30 Degrees. Wind chill temperatures Sunday look to be in the teens all day long.
