Some Light Snow Is Expected From Friday Afternoon To Saturday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight & Friday Morning: Clouds will be on the increase tonight out ahead of a weather system that looks to bring us some light snow from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning. Low temperatures will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. Winds will be North at 7 to 14 mph.

Friday morning looks cloudy with temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Some Light Snow Is Expected From Friday Afternoon To Saturday Morning: A coastal storm system is forecast to track well south and east of Southern New England during Friday night. While this storm system will keep most of its precipitation to our east, it does look like it will bring a little bit of light snow that begins on Friday afternoon and continues on and off through Friday night before ending by Saturday morning.

Light snow looks to begin across the entire area during the early and mid-afternoon hours of Friday. Steady light snow then looks to continue into the late afternoon and early evening hours of Friday before it tapers off to some intermittent light snow.

During the overnight hours of Friday night, there may be a break in the snow for most of the area. That said, don’t be surprised to see a period or two of some very light snow during the overnight hours of Friday night.

During Saturday morning, an additional period of light snow is expected before all snow comes to an end by late Saturday morning.

My snowfall forecast map is attached to this post. Generally though, it looks as if one inch or less of snow accumulation seems likely across Western Mass and 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation can be expected across Central Mass.

Temperatures Friday afternoon will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. Low temperatures Friday night will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. Temperatures during Saturday morning will be between 24 and 29 Degrees.

Winds on Friday afternoon will be North to Northeast at 10 to 20 mph. Winds on Friday night will be North at 10 to 20 mph. Winds during Saturday morning will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday Afternoon & Saturday Night: Generally cloudy skies are expected during Saturday afternoon with high temperatures near 30 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Skies will become clear during Saturday evening with clear skies expected during the overnight hours of Saturday night. Low temperatures will be near 10 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Wind chill temperatures Saturday night will be between Zero and 10 below zero.

Sunday Through Monday: Some of the coldest temperatures so far this season are expected on Sunday and Sunday night as a big high pressure system builds over the area.

Sunday will be sunny with high temperatures between 20 and 25 Degrees.

Sunday night looks clear with low temperatures between 3 and 9 Degrees. Some of the deeper valleys and normally colder spots will see low temperatures of Zero to 5 below zero on Sunday night.

Monday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees.

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day: An area of low pressure and its frontal system is expected to move southeastward reaching our area during the day on Christmas Eve. This weather system continues to have the potential to bring our area some wintry weather during the morning and early afternoon hours of Christmas Eve.

Given the very busy holiday travel and the hustle and bustle of holiday festivities on Christmas Eve, this is a weather system that will need to be watched very closely as even a little bit of snow could lead to Christmas Eve travel problems.

Christmas Eve may see some snow during the morning into the early afternoon hours. How much snow accumulates remains to be seen, but the latest data seems to indicate the possibility of widespread accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. High temperatures Christmas Eve will be near 35 Degrees.

Christmas Day now looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
