Snow Showers & Snow Squalls Are Possible During Tuesday Morning; 1 To 2 Inches Of Snow Accumulation Is A Possibility During Wednesday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight & Monday: Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected throughout tonight with low temperatures between 15 and 20 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph.

Monday will be a sunny and windy day with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30-35 mph.

Monday Night: Skies will start out clear to partly cloudy during Monday evening, but will become cloudy during the after midnight hours as a strong cold front approaches the region. Low temperatures will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

Snow Showers & Snow Squalls A Possibility During Tuesday Morning: That strong cold front will push through the region during Tuesday morning bringing with it the possibility of snow showers and snow squalls.

Current indications seem to point to that any snow showers and snow squalls will occur between about 6 am and 11 am Tuesday morning. Any snow showers and snow squalls will be capable of producing a quick hitting 15-30 minute period of very heavy snow, blowing snow due to 40-45 mph wind gusts, near zero visibility & a quick one inch or so of snow accumulation. Because of this, hazardous travel conditions is likely during any snow showers and squalls. Also, these snow showers and squalls could coincide with the Tuesday morning commute & because of this, the threat for snow showers and snow squalls will be watched very closely.

Temperatures during Tuesday morning will be near 30 Degrees. It will be windy throughout Tuesday morning with West to Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-45 mph.

Tuesday Afternoon: Once that front moves through, it’ll usher in some colder temperatures into the area. Skies during Tuesday afternoon will be partly sunny and temperatures will fall through the 20s. Winds will be West to Northwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

1 To 2 Inches Of Snow Accumulation Looks Possible For Wednesday Morning: An area of low pressure is expected to cross the region during the day on Wednesday. There is still uncertainty as to where exactly this low pressure system will track in relation to our area. The reason why is because most of the snow that occurs with this low pressure system will be on the northern side of the storm.

Some of the weather forecast guidance are still showing this low pressure system tracking either over or just south of Southern New England, which would lead to 3 to 6 inches of snow to accumulate during the day on Wednesday.

On the other hand, some of the other weather forecast guidance is showing the low pressure system tracking over northern New England leading to a little bit of light snow to occur during Wednesday morning. This would be followed by snow showers and possible snow squalls during the mid and late afternoon hours of Wednesday. 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation would occur across the region with the further north track.

Based on the latest data that I’m looking at, I’m still leaning towards the low pressure system tracking over central New England leading to our area remaining on the southern side of this storm.

This means that my forecast for Wednesday is for a period of snow to occur beginning just before sunrise Wednesday morning and lasting until about mid-morning Wednesday. 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation looks to be a possibility during Wednesday morning.

This period of snow during Wednesday morning will be followed by a brief break during the midday and early afternoon hours.

An Arctic frontal boundary is then expected to push through the area during the mid and late afternoon hours bringing with it the possibility of snow showers and isolated snow squalls.

High temperatures Wednesday will be near 30 Degrees.

Thursday & Friday: An Arctic air mass will once again push into the area during the end of this upcoming week.

Thursday looks sunny, very cold and windy with high temperatures near 20 Degrees.

Friday is expected to be sunny, cold and windy with high temperatures near 30 Degrees.
