For This Afternoon & Tonight: Scattered showers are expected through mid-afternoon across the entire area as a warm front gradually pushes northward. In addition, a thunderstorm or two is also a possibility through mid-afternoon. A brief break in the shower activity is expected between about 4 pm and 8 pm as we wait for the approaching cold front. A cold front is then expected to push through the area between about 8 pm and midnight this evening. The atmosphere along and ahead of this cold front is expected to be just unstable enough to support thunderstorm activity. Because of this, I expect widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms to affect Western Mass from about 8 pm to about 11 pm and to affect Central Mass between about 10 pm and midnight. Any thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy downpours and small Once the showers and scattered thunderstorms end around midnight, skies will remain cloudy after midnight tonight. Temperatures this afternoon will be near 55 Degrees. Low temperatures tonight will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Winds this afternoon will be southeast at 8 to 16 mph. Winds tonight will be south at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday: Sunday looks like it’ll feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds and there may be a stray shower or two during the afternoon. High temperatures Sunday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds on Sunday will be west at 7 to 15 mph. Monday Through Wednesday: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all look sunny to partly sunny. High temperatures Monday will be near 55 Degrees. High temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will be near 50 Degrees. Thursday: A frontal system is expected to push through the area on Thursday bringing with it unsettled weather and even some wintry weather near the beginning. Precipitation in the form of a mix of freezing rain and sleet will overspread the region after midnight Wednesday night and may continue into Thursday morning. A change to just rain seems likely across most of the area by later Thursday morning with the rain continuing into Thursday afternoon before ending Thursday evening. The exception may be across the Berkshires and near and north of Route 2 where freezing rain and sleet may hang on into the afternoon on Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will be in the 40s except across the Berkshires and the northern Worcester Hills where temperatures may remain in the 30s.
