For The Rest Of This Afternoon Into This Evening: Rain is expected to continue overspread the region over the next couple of hours and it is expected to be raining everywhere by 3 pm. This rain is then expected to continue into this evening before it comes to an end by 9-10 pm this evening.
I expect that the precipitation across a majority of the area to be just rain as temperatures everywhere are in the low to mid 40s. The exception might be over extreme northern parts of the Worcester Hills (well north of Route 2) and over the northern Berkshires where some pockets of freezing rain might occur at times.
Rainfall totals with this first weather system will average between one quarter of an inch and one half of an inch.
Temperatures the rest of this afternoon will be in the low to mid 40s. Low temperatures late tonight will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.
Winds the rest of this afternoon will be East at 6 to 12 mph. Winds tonight will be North to Northeast at 7 to 14 mph.
Tuesday: A east to northeasterly wind flow is expected to keep the entire area cloudy with areas of drizzle and fog at times. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Even More Rain Is Expected From Late Tuesday Night Through Wednesday & Into Wednesday Evening: A soaking rainfall is expected across the entire area beginning late Tuesday night and continuing through Wednesday and into Wednesday evening.
A low pressure system riding along a frontal boundary is expected to affect the region during the day on Wednesday. Mild air and abundant amounts of moisture will lead to the likelihood of this being all rain across the entire area.
Rain is expected to begin across the entire area around or just after midnight Tuesday night.
Rain then continues through all day Wednesday and the rain will be heavy at times during the late afternoon hours of Wednesday.
Rain, which will be heavy at times, is expected to continue into Wednesday evening before it ends around midnight Wednesday night as a strong cold front pushes through the region. In fact, there might even be the chance of a rumble or two of thunder during Wednesday evening.
As that front moves to the east late Wednesday night, cold air will push into the region leading to temperatures to fall into the low to mid 30s by the late night hours of Wednesday night. Because of this, we might have to keep an eye on the possibility for some icy roads, parking lots and driveways for the Thursday morning commute as leftover moisture from the rain might freeze up.
Rainfall totals from late Tuesday night to Wednesday evening are expected to average between 2 inches and 2.50 inches across the entire area leading to the potential for street flooding and poor drainage flooding.
High temperatures Wednesday will be between 54 and 59 Degrees. Low temperatures Wednesday night will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.
Winds on Wednesday will be South at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Winds on Wednesday night will be West at 18 to 28 mph with gusts to 40-45 mph.
