Rain Is Expected From About Midnight Tonight Until About Sunrise Tuesday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight & Tuesday: A fast moving weather disturbance is expected to cross the area later tonight into Tuesday morning bringing with it a round of rain to the entire area.

Scattered rain showers this evening will become a steady rain by around midnight tonight across the entire area. The rain is then expected to continue through the after midnight hours of tonight. The rain looks to quickly come to an end around sunrise Tuesday morning.

Temperatures tonight will rise from between 35 and 40 Degrees this evening to 40 to 45 Degrees during the after midnight hours. This means that there is no chance at all of freezing rain or icing concerns. Winds tonight will be South at 10 to 20 mph.

Once the rain ends around sunrise Tuesday morning, skies are expected to become partly sunny by Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph in the morning and West at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Through Thursday: Skies during the day on Wednesday will be sunny to partly sunny as things dry out for a short time. High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will become Southwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Even more rain is expected during Wednesday night as a cold front pushes across the area. This cold front will usher in another round of quite cold weather for later this week right through the weekend & maybe even into part of next week. Low temperatures will be near 35 Degrees. Winds will be South at 5 to 10 mph in the evening and then become West at 10 to 20 mph during the overnight hours.

Thursday is expected to be partly sunny and windy with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.

Friday: Skies are expected to become cloudy during the day on Friday as we keep an eye on a storm system that might bring us snow on Friday night and Saturday (we’ll see though). High temperatures will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.

Snow Is Possible Friday Night & Saturday: The model guidance is showing the continuation of an active weather pattern across the region right into this weekend. This active weather pattern combined with an influx of quite cold temperatures possibly means that snow could occur across the area during Friday night and Saturday. That said, the potential for snow is not a sure thing by any means due to the fact that the track of a storm system for Friday night and Saturday is highly uncertain.

Some of the latest weather forecast guidance shows a track that takes the storm system near the Cape, which would mean several inches of snow on Friday night into Saturday. Other just as reliable weather forecast guidance is forecasting a storm track well east of the area, which would leave us with little or no snowfall, but with quite cold temperatures. Personally, for me, if it’s going to be really cold, I want it to snow too. A frozen landscape of just brown is miserable.

Until I see more evidence, I’m going with the possibility of a light snowfall (something like 1 to 3 inches or so) during Friday night that lasts into Saturday morning. I think that the incoming cold air will be suppressive enough to cause that storm system to stay a bit too far east of our area to really give us a decent snowfall. That said, I’m watching this storm system closely as the weather pattern looks very active and it wouldn’t take much in the pattern to bring that storm system closer to the area.

Low temperatures Friday night will be between 15 and 20 Degrees. High temperatures Saturday will be near 30 Degrees.

Quite Cold Weather Moves In For Sunday & Lasts Into Next Week: Once the really cold air moves in, it’s going to be hard to push it back out of the area. This means that we’re probably looking at several days of some pretty cold temperatures across the area.

Sunday will be sunny with high temperatures near 25 Degrees. Low temperatures for Sunday night will be between 5 and 10 Degrees. It should be noted that if we do end up getting a snow cover from Friday night & Saturday morning’s possible snowfall, it could lead to near or even slightly below zero temperatures for Sunday night.

Next Monday looks sunny with high temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees.

First Look At The Weather For Christmas Eve & Christmas Day: It looks like it’s going to be a fairly cold Christmas across the region. This means that if we do see a light snowfall on Friday night and Saturday morning, it would pretty much guarantee a white Christmas.

Christmas Eve looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 30 and 35 Degrees.

Christmas Day looks cloudy and there may be some scattered snow showers around. High temperatures will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.
