For Tonight: Very windy conditions are expected to continue throughout tonight across the entire area. West to Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-50 mph can be expected throughout tonight.
Skies will start out partly cloudy this evening and will become cloudy by after midnight tonight. A piece of upper level energy rotating southward around a big low pressure located over Atlantic Canada will make its way into Western and Central Mass by sunrise Thursday morning. Some scattered snow showers are expected to push southward into mainly Central parts of Mass by about sunrise Thursday morning. Any snow showers around sunrise Thursday morning across Central Mass would easily stick to roads leading to slick conditions in areas that see snow showers. Snow amounts look minimal and should amount to perhaps a dusting or so.
Low temperatures tonight will be between 5 and 10 Degrees. Wind chill temperatures tonight will be near 5 below zero before midnight and between minus 10 and minus 15 after midnight.
Thursday: Scattered snow showers are expected to continue across mostly Central Mass during the morning. Any snow that does fall during Thursday morning will easily stick to roads leading to slick conditions in areas that do see snow showers. Snow amounts during Thursday morning should average about a dusting in areas that see snow shower activity.
More important though will be the very windy conditions that are expected all day on Thursday. West to Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45-55 mph are expected throughout the day.
High temperatures will be near 25 Degrees. Wind chill temperatures will be between Zero and minus 10 during the morning and near 10 above zero during the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected during Thursday night. Low temperatures will be between 15 and 20 Degrees. It will continue to be quite windy with Northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Wind chill temperatures during Thursday night will be around Zero.
Friday: Less wind and milder temperatures are expected on Friday under sunny skies. High temperatures will be near 35 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
Friday Night & Saturday: An area of low pressure is expected to make its way across the southern United States the next couple of days bringing enough snow and ice to lead to very hazardous conditions to areas from northern Texas and southern Oklahoma through Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, northern Mississippi, northern Alabama and northern Georgia as well as parts of the central and western Carolinas.
It now looks very likely that this storm system will push far enough to our south to not significantly impact our weather this weekend as the southern and northern parts of the jet stream will not phase together. Instead, what looks to occur is that a smaller and much weaker storm system will move along the northern part of the jet stream during Saturday. This smaller storm system will affect our weather during the day on Saturday with some periods of light snow.
Friday night will start out clear to partly cloudy, but skies will become cloudy during the after midnight hours. Low temperatures will be near 20 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday looks cloudy throughout the day. In addition, some periods of light snow looks fairly likely at times during the day. While it probably will not snow all day long, I do think that we’ll probably see at least a couple of periods of light snow during the day. My thinking is that the first round of light snow will occur during the morning and a second round of light snow occurring during the late afternoon and early evening hours.
Snow amounts look pretty light with around one inch or so of snow accumulation for most areas.
High temperatures Saturday will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.
Sunday & Monday: An area of high pressure will cross the region from Sunday through Monday.
Sunday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.
Monday is expected to feature a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
Tuesday & Next Wednesday: A frontal system is expected to cross the region during the day Tuesday. This front will bring with it another shot of colder air behind it.
Tuesday will be cloudy and there will be some scattered snow showers during the late morning into the afternoon hours. High temperatures will be near 35 Degrees.
Next Wednesday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees.
