Another Round Of Snow Is Expected From Late Tonight Through Saturday Morning

For Tonight & Saturday: Raw and dreary weather is expected throughout tonight and Saturday as a low pressure system tracks northward from the Mid-Atlantic states and then passes to south and east of Nantucket. I do think that a large percentage of the precipitation that falls from this storm will be in the form of snow, which looks to occur from late tonight through all of Saturday morning. A snowfall accumulation of around one inch looks likely from the Pioneer Valley eastward through much of Central Mass. It should be noted that up to 2 to 3 inches of snow accumulation looks quite possible across the Berkshires, across the Hilltowns of Western Mass and across the northern Worcester Hills.

Skies will be cloudy this evening with rain overspreading Western Mass between 10 pm and midnight and then rain will overspread Central Mass between midnight and 2 am. This rain will quickly change to snow across the entire area during the late night hours of tonight and the predawn hours of Saturday morning & this means that it’ll likely be snowing everywhere by the time the sun rises on Saturday morning.

Saturday looks to be a downright disgusting day in the way of weather. Snow, which will mix with sleet and rain at times, is expected throughout Saturday morning. This precipitation should change to mostly all rain by early Saturday afternoon with the rain continuing through all of Saturday afternoon. It should be noted that the precipitation could fall as freezing rain in the higher elevations of the Berkshires and the higher elevations of the northern Worcester Hills during Saturday afternoon.

As I already mentioned, snow amounts from late tonight through Saturday morning will range from around one inch across the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass and across much of Worcester County to up to 2 to 3 inches of wet snow across the Berkshires, the Hilltowns of Western Mass and the northern Worcester Hills. This snow is expected to accumulate mostly on grassy and non-pavement surfaces & it is expected that roads will be wet throughout tonight and Saturday.

Low temperatures tonight will be in the low 30s. High temperatures Saturday will be in the mid 30s for most areas & in the low 30s across the Berkshires and the northern Worcester Hills. Winds tonight will be Northeast at 8 to 16 mph. Winds on Saturday will be Northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Saturday Night & Sunday: A brief break in the rain is expected throughout Saturday night, but it will be cloudy. Low temperatures will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northeast at 10 to 20 mph.

Another round of rain is expected during the day on Sunday with most of the rain occurring during the morning. Also, the steadiest rain looks to occur across Central Mass with more intermittent on and off rain expected across Western Mass. Finally, some snow may mix in with the snow at times during Sunday morning. High temperatures Sunday will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northwest at 8 to 16 mph.

Next Week: An area of high pressure will briefly build into the area during Monday bringing a dry day with just a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds expected. High temperatures will be between 50 and 55 Degrees.

Another frontal system will push through the area during Monday night leading to widespread showers throughout the night on Monday night. Low temperatures will be near 40 Degrees.

Tuesday looks to be a cloudy day with some scattered showers expected during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 60 Degrees.

Wednesday looks cloudy with high temperatures between 50 and 55 Degrees.

Thursday looks sunny with high temperatures near 55 Degrees.

Next Friday looks wet as a frontal system moves through the area. Skies will be cloudy throughout the day next Friday with widespread showers expected. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees.
